PSYCHOLOGY - COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENTS

A registered Psychologist can provide counselling services to manage emotional, social, vocational, educational, health-related, developmental, and organizational concerns.

Psychological assessments are offered to provide a detailed analysis regarding an individual in the following areas: cognition (general intelligence), achievement (reading, written language, mathematics), processing abilities (memory, speed/fluency), language, fine-motor skills, attention, social, emotional,, and/or behavioral functioning.  These assessments can help understand one's unique strengths and areas of improvement.  

A Psychoeducational assessment is a comprehensive and integrated process that involves:
  • Clinical review and information gathering
  • Administration of standardized assessment instruments
  • Feedback to explain assessment findings and results
  • Written report that integrates background information, current standardized test results, and clinical impressions.
  • Identify Specific strategies to support learning and enhance achievement will be recommended.
  • If a diagnosis of a disability can be formulated, appropriate program accommodations and/or support services based on the functional limitations associated with the disability will also be provided.
Psychoeducational tests are done using most recent versions of the following: ex. Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT), Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC), Wide Range Assessment of Memory and Learning (WRAML2), Conners Continuous Performance Test (CPT3), Delis–Kaplan Executive Function System (D-Kefs), Behavior Assessment System for Children (BASC-3), Conners and BRIEF (Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function)
